Our Creed

The large, non-plastic men and women behind this website adhere to a particular belief system with regards to this hobby, one that should help our readers understand how we as writers, thinkers, hobbyists, humorists, and people approach the discussions of the games we play. This system of faith and belief, our creed, informs all of the work we do here at LittlePlasticMen.net and the approach we take in attempts to realize the tenets of our faith.

The Tenets of Our Faith

 This is a hobby.
This is a hobby that is shared with others.
Promote the vision of the hobby you wish to share in

The 10 Commandments of the L.P.M.net Creed:

 1. Observe. Learn. Share. Experiment. Draw your own conclusions.
2. Everyone “cheats,” whether by intention or accident, from time to time. Everyone gets a rule wrong every once in a while.
3. If you have fun taking the hobby seriously, do so. But remember, it’s a hobby, not National Security, keep perspective.
4. Everyone has more fun if we laugh occasionally.
5. Print is an imperfect medium. Anyone can come across as belligerent /sarcastic /emotional /cold /flippant in textual communication. Give others the benefit of the doubt. And when in doubt include graphics to clarify your point
6. All discussion is an abstraction of experience. Words and pictures will often not be enough to convey an idea or experience to another without benefit of psionics.
7. Be respectful enough to dispute that which you find fault with and respectful enough not to hide your opinion from someone else who you believe to be misinformed.
8. Just as there is never only one right answer and no one right way to do something, there is also never one way to win a game.
9. Our hobby is comprised of these elements: playing, modeling, culture and community. It’s a big hobby. No one element is inherently privileged over the others.
10. Dice can make impossibility possible. Dice can make the possible an impossibility. This is the wonder innate to our hobby.
